April
30 started out as a normal day for Cornerstone. We
sang at a Baptist Church in Worthington that morning
and had a
wonderful time. Geoff Anderson, our tenor singer, was not feeling
well that morning.
After returning home from singing, Geoff went
about his business for the day.
Later that afternoon, he told his wife that he was not
feeling well and was starting to perspire.
His wife took him
to
the local emergency squad where he was transported to Grant Hospital
in Columbus, Ohio. Several test were performed with not much success
on his diagnosis until a test was performed on his aorta. It was
discovered that
he had a 2 1/2" tear in his aorta just below the heart and
emergency surgery was needed.
The hospital assembled a very skilled surgical team and at
10:30 PM that night, surgery was performed.
The
surgery
lasted approximately 4 1/2 hours and went without any complications.
His recovery process has been another story. Geoff has
experienced several setbacks on his road to recovery and is still in
the Critical Care Unit of Grant Hospital. As his recovery process
continues, we will post his progress here so please continue to
check for updates and continue to keep him and the family in your
prayers.

A
PRAISE REPORT!!!
Geoff
swallowed yesterday!!! He got a full swallow 1 of 3 tries - that's
progress!! Also, he's been breathing room air since Saturday at 3:30
pm. Saturday morning he was only able to sustain breathing room air
for 10 minutes. I'd say that 3 days is FABULOUS!! Just pray that
there will be no more set-backs and he will continue to move
forward. Yes, there is healing in prayer - can you feel it?? Geoff
can!!
April 30th will be one year since Geoff went into surgery to repair
the tear in his aorta. Cornerstone had sang that morning and Geoff
and the family were going out for lunch when Anita noticed something
was wrong. Anita took Geoff to the paramedics at the Bloom Twp Fire
Department in Lithopolis where he was transported to Grant Hospital
in Columbus, Ohio. After many test, Geoff underwent a 6 hour surgery
to repair his aorta. Due to the many complications, Geoff spent
nearly 6 months in the hospital. He was finally able to go to a
rehabilitation facility where he spent another 30 days.
Geoff is now home and continuing his therapy every week. He is still
in the wheelchair but is learning how to use a walker. He still has
the feeding and the tracheotomy tube inserted. If he can remain
seizure free for 3 months, then they will try and take out the
tracheotomy tube as long as he passes the swallowing test.
Geoff
has continued to try and remain an active member of the
Bloom-Carroll Board of Education in which he was elected to and also
to support his children's activities as much as he is physically
able to do.
Cornerstone held a benefit concert for the family on November 5,
2006 and over $30,000.00 was raised.
PRAISE
GOD ! ! ! ! ! Cornerstone and the Anderson family would like to
thank all those who contributed and helped to make the afternoon a
special event.
Please continue your prayers for Geoff, Anita and the rest of the
Anderson family as he continues his rehabilitation and also so they
keep the faith and know that God is with them every step of the way.
JESUS
SAVES!
Well,
it's been a good 24 hours since they pulled Geoff's trach, and
everything seems to be moving along as expected. Anita was a
little concerned for about an hour last night because Geoff was
coughing a lot, but he settled down and is doing much better.
Just a note if you want to send him e-mails - if you forward
something to him that has a lot of previous addresses, the program
will read EVERYTHING, so make sure you just forward what you want
read. He is enjoying hearing from many of you, so I
encourage you to stay in touch! The family appreciates all
the prayers and support.
