About Us

In the summer of 1996, God brought some individuals together and opened the door for them to minister His word through song.

God has chosen different directions for the various past members of Cornerstone including calling one of Cornerstones original member home in 2009, Dr Geoffrey Anderson. Geoff will be sadly missed not only by his brotherhood of singers, but his family and coworkers.

One original member of Cornerstone remains. Mel Meloy was the original founding member of Cornerstone and got things rolling and still to this day, keeps Cornerstone very active as he is still the manager and president of the group.

Today, Cornerstone consist of founding member Mel Meloy. Mel is currently retired from being a 9-1-1 Coordinator of Fairfield County. Mel is retired as choir director and Minister of Music and Technology at the Lithopolis United Methodist Church and is involved in many community organizations and activities. “The Lord has opened several doors for the group and the Lord continues doing so as long as we remain obedient to him and continue doing His will, not ours.”

Remembering back to my youth, growing up in Sunday School where I was asked to sing in many children’s programs, I soon grew into a love of music and of singing. This would stay with me through middle school and high school where I would end up singing in choirs, ensembles and glee clubs. My love for singing grew, and my will to sing for the Lord grew greater. I ended up singing in my church choir where I would later be asked to lead and direct. God called me into His service and I began a solo ministry for Him, singing in churches, restaurants and campgrounds. The Lord had a greater use for me and led me to Cornerstone Gospel where I was asked to join and sing lead. What a wonderful opportunity to use the talent God gave me to minister for Him to those lost and seeking His love and to able to sing with other God loving men. I’m honored that God has decided to use me to help spread His word through song and allows me to be blessed as much as I try to bless others. “ To God Be The Glory”.

The Lord graciously saved me and put within me a desire to serve Him and to follow Him.

That has resulted in being a missionary, a pastor, a teacher of the word of God to adults, singing in many choirs and church quartets. I thank God for the opportunity that I had previously to sing with Jericho Road Quartet. This was my first quartet to sing southern gospel style music. I am so thankful now that God has opened up the door to sing with Cornerstone Quartet and minister His word in song to people everywhere the Lord leads. May God receive all the glory for the lives He touches through song.

When I gave my heart to the Lord in 1968 it was in a small Southern Baptist Church in Maryland . I was impressed  by the music and introduced to Southern Gospel style quartet singing.. It was not until 1983 when I was asked to join with 3 others to form the “Mastersmen Quartet. Over the years I have only been out of singing a total of 3 years.  After leaving the last group on Dec 31 , 2010 I have not sang at all but the Lord has opened the door for me to become part of the Cornerstone Quartet. I pray that the Lord will bless me and my fellow singers on our Journey to sing his praises and  I look forward to seeing all my friends again.
